We’re Hatching Multisensory Supports and Seating at Oak Hill Academy

Every student at Oak Hill Academy is unique in their personalities, talents and learning styles.

At Oak Hill, our mission is to provide a whole-child education for complex, neurodiverse students. To more fully support our mission, we aim to outfit all of our classrooms with multisensory seating and other multisensory supports to help our Dragons feel comfortable in the classroom and focus on the learning at hand.

Whether it’s taking a calming break with our student support staff to regulate the mind and body, rhythmically moving on a rocking stool to hone in on a lesson or wearing a weighted vest to lessen anxiety, these multisensory tools will directly impact our Oak Hill students and their learning trajectory.

Your Hatchling Fund contribution is vital to the continued success of our students’ academic and social-emotional development. These enhancements will benefit all students - preschool through high school! By making a gift to the Mission OHA Hatchling Fund campaign, you will help our students rocket to their full potential.

How can you tell how much a dragon weighs?
Well, they do come with scales.

Oak Hill Academy is excited to debut our new Hatchling Fund to our Grandfriends this November. The Hatchling Fund is a way for Grandfriends to support high-priority initiatives at Oak Hill Academy that will directly benefit all students.

Our First Hatchling Fund Project

Let's find out which came first, the chicken or the egg?

As the inaugural focus of the fund, we will build and maintain a new Oak Hill Academy chicken coop. The Coop will help our students learn to care for live chickens.  It will allow us to teach math, language arts, science, writing, art and transition skills in a new way. Oak Hill Academy prides itself in using multisensory ways to learn traditional subjects and the chicken coop is a tangible way to do this!

The Money raised by the Hatchling Fund will provide for:

Illustration of different treehouses
Construction of the treehouse and slide • Construction of the platform • A walkway bridge connecting two trees • A platform for students of all ages • a nature focused curriculum
In addition to covering the cost of the treehouse, the learning experience covers a full range of traditional subjects such as math, language arts, science, writing, art and transition skills.
