Campus Safety
at Oak Hill Academy

The safety of students and staff is the top priority of Oak Hill Academy. By providing a safe and secure environment, students have room to learn, grow and play on our beautiful campus.

Campus Safety Patrol

Oak Hill has a dedicated full-time armed security guard who patrols the campus grounds during school hours and events.

Campus Visitors

The Oak Hill campus has a fully fenced perimeter. When the entrance gate is closed, visitors must use the digital panel to request vehicular access. Campus visitors must then check in at the front office (photo ID required) upon arrival. Visitors will be assigned a visitor badge to be worn at all times while on the Oak Hill campus.

Partnerships with Safety Experts and Organizations

Oak Hill Academy underwent a campus safety audit in Summer 2023 conducted by a Dallas-area SWAT officer. In addition, the police officer trained Oak Hill faculty and staff on campus safety best practices during in-service in August 2023.

Oak Hill Academy is also a member of the Midway Hollow Crime Watch.

Crisis Management Plan

Oak Hill Academy has a crisis management plan that is regularly reviewed by the school’s crisis management team. The team discusses various scenarios during tabletop practice exercises.

Standard Response Protocol

Oak Hill Academy uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) from the “I Love U Guys” Foundation for crisis response. Standard Response Protocol posters are displayed in every classroom and office on campus and employees even carry the SRP instructions on their badges. Drills for Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter are scheduled throughout the school year.

Campus Safety Enhancements

Thanks in part to funds raised through Oak Hill’s 2023 North Texas Giving Day campaign, the school installed additional door security access panels, more security cameras, an outdoor speaker system, and other campus safety features.

Communication with School Families

In the event of an emergency, Oak Hill Academy will notify the listed emergency contact(s) for each student via the school’s email and text messaging systems.

Oak Hill hosted a Parent Education Series presentation on campus safety in September 2023. The presentation featured Officer David Hutson with the Irving Police Department. Stay tuned for future campus safety-related parent presentations.
