Oak Hill Academy High School
The High School Program
The Oak Hill Academy high school experience focuses on preparing students for their next stage of life with an emphasis on transition planning. Students are an integral part of the transition planning process which begins in freshman year.
HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS
Oak Hill Academy debuted a dedicated high school campus for 9th-12th grade students in August 2025. Oak Hill Academy at Cochran Chapel, located at 9027 Midway Road in Dallas, provides neurodiverse high school students with a tailored, whole-child educational experience, featuring an emphasis on transition and life skills.
CAMPUS AMENITIES
The renovated two-story education building at Cochran Chapel includes Oak Hill Academy’s Practical Assessment Exploration System Lab with kitchen and laundry facilities, classrooms with abundant natural light, a student lounge, an outdoor eating area, and a shaded outdoor recreation space with swings, a basketball court and lawn games.
TRANSITION AND LIFE SKILLS
Besides the high school academic curriculum, Oak Hill students participate in transition and life skills training to prepare for the next stage of life.
The flagship of Oak Hill Academy’s Transition and Life Skills program is the Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES) Lab. Students explore jobs and hone their employability skills each school day in one of the following five career paths:
- Business/Marketing
- Computer/Technology
- Construction/Industrial
- Processing/Production
- Consumer/Service
Students clock in for their assignments and work through the day’s assigned task, with measurements for accuracy, speed and level of independence in completion. These PAES Lab metrics are instrumental in tracking student proficiency and progress, as well as students’ work potential and interests.
Whether it’s wiring a doorbell, machine sewing with a pattern, rolling silverware, alphabetizing files, or assembling a custom hamburger order, Oak Hill Academy high school students are gaining confidence and valuable work experience in the PAES Lab.
EXTERNSHIPS
Twelfth graders participate in a supervised externship to get real-world work experience one afternoon each week. Recent externships include the SPCA of Texas and Goodwill Industries of Dallas where Oak Hill students have built crates for animal transport, stocked the animal food pantry, played with the shelter pets, organized clothes for resale, and more.
TRANSITION SKILLS FAIR
Each year, Oak Hill Academy hosts a Transition Skills Fair on campus to showcase a variety of resources and post-graduation program options for students and their families.
