The High School Program
The Oak Hill Academy high school experience focuses on preparing students for their next stage of life with an emphasis on transition planning. Students are an integral part of the transition planning process which begins in freshman year.
TRANSITION SKILLS
Our student-centered approach includes the development of self-advocacy skills, as well as the opportunity to learn employment skills in five occupational categories while simultaneously honing vital soft skills in our new Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES) Lab environment.
CURRICULUM
Students progress through our curriculum following either Oak Hill Academy’s Foundation or Modified Track to chart a successful course into adult life, whether they plan to go right into the employment setting or explore various post-secondary options.
CURRICULUM HIGHLIGHTS:
- English with an emphasis on reading comprehension skills, vocabulary skills and functional writing skills
- Math includes Algebra I and Geometry for the Foundation Track. Practical Math, Financial Mathematics and Consumer Math are offered for the Modified Track
- Science includes Biology, Integrated Physics and Chemistry, and Food Science
- Social Studies includes World Geography, U.S. History, U.S. Government and Economic Literacy
- Transition Skills courses are offered all four years as well as time in the PAES Lab and exploring off-campus opportunities to further develop skills
- Students have additional coursework in Art, Spanish, Physical Education, and Technology
